An Unforgettable Experience Thanks to New to Camping

The Camping and Caravanning Club’s New to Camping campaign is continuing to flourish as families again opt for a domestic summer holiday rather than jetting off abroad.

Recently-released VisitEngland figures showed camping holidays increased by 29 per cent in 2009 whilst breaks away in touring caravans and rented caravan holiday homes both rose by 23 per cent.

Last year, The Club recruited a staggering 65,000 new members, with 31,000 of those being younger families.

And with the continuing poor exchange rates, concerns over the environment and the wider concerns about travel safety, people are still going back-to-basics and enjoying a cost-efficient option.

The New to Camping website – http://www.newtocamping.co.uk – tells families all they need to know for that perfect family experience.

This is reflected in The Club’s latest figures which showed that in June 2010 the number of families camping on Club Sites had increased by 130 per cent in comparison to the same time last year as a direct result of the New to Camping campaign.

And from April 2010 to June 2010, the number of unique visitors to The Club’s New to Camping section of the website rose by 132 per cent.

Director General Robert Louden said: “People look for certainty in uncertain times and that’s why an affordable holiday in this country has never been so appealing.

“Our New to Camping campaign has really captured the imagination of both our members and non-members and it is great to see so many families making the most of that freedom and flexibility that you get with camping, caravanning or motorhoming.

“Some warm weather during the school holidays could really see our Club Sites full to brimming.”

Louden’s sentiments are echoed by James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland.

He added: “Last year was a bumper year for tourism in England. This seemed to awaken a latent pride in England as a holiday destination.

“From our research we certainly know there is a growing trend to holiday at home and that nearly half the population say they plan to take more domestic breaks in future.

“What better way to discover some of the most breathtaking countryside in the world than by taking a break at one of England’s fantastic campsites? With great facilities, world-class locations and excellent value for money our campsites can make for a truly memorably holiday.”
